The 22" is a gold sparkle. The wrap has a couple big wrinkles in it but nothing that will effect its function. It seems to be either not too faded or pretty evenly faded.

Do you know if they are made of gold ? $30 a Lug!

Guys, these are hand made reproductions. Lots of time, machinework, etc have gone into them. Also, chrome plating is not that cheap to do anymore.

Are they expensive compared to mass produced lugs made in china? yes. Are they worth it to PROPERLY restore the look and function of a B&B era Rogers? I think so. If you want the price to come down, then maybe tool up to make them yourself and compete with Mr Petty. Competition is the only way to drive price down.

Not really drilling. Just elongate the toward the shell center hole about 1/16" with a round file and the Beavertails will work. The B&B are flat to the shell tabs. The Beavertails have stubs on them, so the holes may need to be filed a bit to fit as well. Easy to do, and then lugs are plentiful.

I wouldn't recommend doing that or the Pearl lug conversion. All you are doing by doing that is destroying any inherent collector value to the drum. Are you making it a usable gigging drum? Sure. But its not worth anything near what it was and once its modified, its very difficult to revert it back to B&B lugs if you ever come across some mint originals or if you bite the bullet and order up the repros.

I say, let the drum sit as it is until you can afford to restore it properly. If you don't think that will ever happen, then sell it to someone who would do the right thing.

I'm not a collector nor am I a fan of feeding the collectors' mindset. I am a player and wanna play this drum asap. Being a player and not a collector, I'm also almost always on the verge of being broke so I want the most practical and inexpensive solution to my problem (having a drum that I can't bang on.). I want something that is gonna last and take a beating. Collectable integrity is the last of my worries. If I have to make a few collectors cringe to get this drum up and running then I'll be just fine. I think I may have found a guy that has some old beaver tail lugs and the ability and experience to put them on for me. Just gotta start saving up to pay him then it's on to the 22" hoops hunt. As for "doing the right thing", I'll leave that to the collectors that wanna hang things on their walls.
