Hi, I have a vintage bass drum that is in good shape except for the heads. I'd like to find new heads for it but it is a 25" drum! Does anyone know where I can find 25" heads without having them custom made? I don't want to pay more than the drum is worth just to get heads for it.

Check with Explorers Percussion. They sell tympani heads in 25".

I finally got a tympani head that works! 25" tympani head was too small for 25" bass drum. 26" tympani head fits like a glove. I found an article online that said you had to add an inch to the measurment. Thanks for the idea!

Interesting. And the tympani head doesn't dent up easily? Are you using something softer than a hard felt beater?

I would've bet against a timpani head working. Not only do they tend to be pretty thin, but they don't have a pre-formed crown.
