I just wanted to show this to you guys. When I went to buy a badge for my other WMP "60's Gretsch Snare" the guy was very kind and just said here you can just take this whole thing since I am going out of business. So here it is badgeless but still has the paper inside. Is anyone going to be interested in this? I just threw it on my local CL.
Beat Up Old Aluminum Gretsch Snare Last viewed: 6 hours ago
What are you asking for the shell?? these are awesome sounding drums you may want to add this to the project pile!
It's for the the cyclops snap in drum keyholder, here's a pic of one!
What is a fair price for this drum?
the unfortunate part is the shell actually is the cheapest part of this particular drum, the parts are going to be expensive that's why it was parted out with to start with! I don't know a figure to give you! sorry.
Do you happen to know what this snare is called? Is it comparative to an Ludwig acrolite?

Yep, that shell is/was Gretsch's answer to Ludwig's Acrolite. Man, I always thought the Gretsch metal snares were the G4000 series, and the different model numbers reflected what the snare was made out of. The brass one is the G4160, for example. On Gretsch's site, the current aluminum snare is the G4160SA, I think the S is for solid and the A is for aluminum. Someone on this site might have the early 70's catalog picture of this snare.
