Beatles tribute going to "the show" Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I have been rewrapping Ludwig Downbeat kits in black oyster pearl, adding the correct hardware and selling "Ringo" kits for a few years now. I have seen tribute bass drum shells going out with close to B.O.P. and newer rewrap shells but I haven't seen what I just did. I have several 14x20 black oyster shells that have had a center tom post hole drilled in them. I've plugged that big hole and used original wrap to almost make them "good as new" but I have one that just didn't seem like it wanted to go that route.....

so I cut it in half, or less actually, and made 2 tribute bass drum wall mounts. I make the heads out of the decals you buy on ebay but everything else is vintage, pristine and actual 60's Ludwig gear (except that creeper claw, of course). Oh, and the head. It's a new Remo coated Ambassador. I think it looks better than the plain Ludwig face head. The badge side got the badge and I'm still trying to decide whether to drill out the other end for a badge or leave it alone. I had to plug the rail mount holes but it also looks wonderful. Not done with it just yet and when I am I'll add those pictures. Figure out what the equipment alone costs and you'll understand why I will be asking some good coin for these babies!! Hope you agree, this looks great!! Added the second drum shell. Nice save on a tore up drum. After seeing the picture of the rail hole plugs I took a sharpy and made it look not so bad.

Drill out the rear side and badge it. You can bring big bucks with these with a light behind them on Feebay dude! Great Ludwig Super Classic show piece... B3 would be proud not to mention Ringo, and his All Starr Band now touring weekly. Cool1

Too many rim shots!

Cool. Seen this sort of thing before, (don't know if it was you or someone else) and I seem to recall also, there being an interior illumination available as suggested by Octaplus. Even thought about building something similar for myself. Only issue I have with what you've shown, is the Beatles logo is not accurate. I have seen some better ones on Ebay, but I have also started working on trying to closely reproduce the actual, debut, Ed Sullivan Show version to have printed as a decal. I have recently ventured into doing some MIJ logo decals with some success, and have sold several to other forum members. If you think this is something you might be interested in, please PM me. Thanks.

I'm not speaking against you, so please don't take it personally ... honestly just thinking about the drums ... only.

It bums me out to think about all those original road worn classic Ludwig Downbeat kits ruined (my personal take only) so that a few more bucks could be made.

Dang ... :(

I only did this to save the drum. It was butchered by someone cutting a big hole in the top center to add a tom post. Beyond "fixing" in my opinion so I gave this drum a new life. I would think this is better than making a coffee table out of the remaining shell. I would never do this to a functional vintage

drum...no offense taken.
