Best polish for vintage drums? Opinions please.. Last viewed: 24 minutes ago

Happy Memorial Day weekend all.

I'm going to be polishing up some of my collection this weekend.

I currently use Groove Juice Shell Shine.

Is the Novus polish I keep hearing about all that much better?

and which one is the best for bringing an old faded drum back to life?

Appreciate the feedback.

+1 on Novus...

I normally wipe down the drum with mild soap and water to remove any grime...Then I use Novus #2 first and finish off with #1 for the final polish...Works great!!

Tip - Have lots of clean, soft, lint free towels on hand...I use the blue shop towels (comes in a roll) that you can get from any hardware store...

Cheers

This, assuming you are talking about wrapped drums. Also, I have been using Megiuar's Plastix lately in lieu of Novus 2 (still finish off with Novus 1). Plastix does just as good of a job, is easier to work with, is cheaper and is more readily available (any auto parts store).

To remove all the surface dirt and grime at first, I just use Windex (spray the cloth, not the drums). I use a microfiber towel for applying/scrubbing and a soft, terrycloth like towel for buffing and finishing. Works great!

Yep, I was talking about wrapped drums...I guess I should have clarified that a little better...

Everyone has their own method of cleaning...Thanks for the Meguire`s tip...

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
