Beverly Drums Last viewed: 13 hours ago

I just ran into a a set of gold sparkle Beverly drums, they look to be 20/12/14 with a matching snare and in decent shape. I did not get a chance to get a very good look. Are these worth looking into? Thanks.

One couldn't tell without pictures. but generally; Beverley had three incarnations. 1) as an independent company with all original designs and manufacturing. These were generally high quality with very thin shells. This ended in 1959. Cast hoops.

2) after 1959 there was some residual tooling and design from the original company----maybe even some shells but by the mid-60's the brand was kind of like a second line Premier, made in the Premier factory. They became almost identical to Olympic but with different lugs. A lot of the drums had 6 lugs (the 12 inch toms had 5) and up until about about '67 some of the shells were in metric sizing ,so you have to use the PR heads from Remo that are still being made for these shells. Stamped hoops.

3) After 1970 , Boosey&Hawkes quit making drums and Premier upped the Beverley brand to closer to pro for distribution by B&H. Shells stayed the same but there was better hardware and more lugs. These drums have a blue b badge around the grommet mostly. Stamped hoops.

Thanks for the info. These had a round gold & white badge with beverly written on them. Seemed well made. The seller threw out $600.00 just wondering if they might be worth pursuing.

If the snare is an aluminium Cosmic 21, I recommend it very much. Almost the same as a Supra, very nice dry alu-sound.
