The best advice to rid the problems of a Windows computer is to buy an Apple.........Mind BlowiMind BlowiMind Blowi

LOL. (all in fun, but it still holds true.....)

This has been an ongoing complaint by many of our forum members. As an IT professional, I can assure you that Sam's site is NOT infected! I suggest that any of you with suspected malware, or even if you think you DON'T have malware, to download and run the free version of Malwarebytes. It will find many of the trojans that all free and paid antivirus programs can't. Next, download Kaspersky's free TDSSKILLER, which will look for anti-rootkits hidden in the boot sector of your hard drive. I just recently had to use this to eliminate a really nagging virus on a netbook belonging to the daughter of Backbeatkeeper! Also, install and run Ccleaner to get rid of all the junked stuff that builds up over time and really slows the computer down. There you go, FREE advice to help you with your Windows computer!

Thank you for the "free" advice. Malwarebytes was the program we used, and Ccleaner I use also. But TDSSKILLER is a new one so I will try that.

Glad to know you're using the correct programs!

True... to a point! Many of my clients ask how to keep from getting infections and I tell them to buy a Mac! However, Apple products cost more than Windows computers and many can't justify the expense.

Also, don't think that just because you have a Mac that you are safe! While it's true that the frequency of Mac infections is very low, they do happen... more so than you're lead to believe. But, yes, you do tend to be much safer with a Mac... or most Linux systems, such as Ubuntu. For the vast majority of casual users who just would like to surf the web, get email, etc, Ubuntu is incredibly safe!

You can load the latest Linux operating system ( 16 , I think) in an hour , using your existing windows program, free of charge . It comes complete with everything you need ,with lots of regular free updates , in compatible packages and multitudes of extra programs available, for you to choose at your convenience.

This does not disable, windows, it continues to be available ,in parallel and can be chosen on boot up so you can access existing files or if you need to run it for some reason.

I installed LInux MInt 14 about a year ago and it is so superior to Windows 7 in all respects, I have no idea ,why windows even exists( well, I guess it is unfortunately apparent ,why). Hardly any servers use windows, the majority use Linux. Contrary to some reports, Linux is not for computer geeks only. I am certainly not one ; I find it easy and intuitive to use, more similar to Mac operating systems . It is customizable to a large degree and in over a year of unprotected daily use , I have never encountered anything that even remotely seems like a viral threat.
