I bought a B/O BB last year. Its an early re-issue maybe from around 78/79. Hmmmmmm its bloody gorgeous!!! Between that, my 400 and my 6.5 deep 50's RK I could probably provide almost any snare sound needed in a studio session. Additionally I have a 60's chrome Downbeat snare which is perfect for that tissue paper sound.

I'm now waiting to save up for a hammered Bronze ludwig snare to add to my collection. There is something about metal snares that Ludwig got so right. Although I not so sure about they're more recent offerings from the late 90's through to now.

Thanks for the input guys. I think this is the one I'm going for. Overall it seems like the best deal I've seen yet on the net. Especially for that depth and the tube lugs. Not to mention the free case.

No need to pay a ridiculous amount on a drum from the 20's that I'd be worried about bringing everywhere I went. Not to say I won't be keeping a close eye on this baby.

Not to hijack, and it seems you have gotten what you needed here, but why hasn't anyone ever come up with a drum lock? A thin cable that attached to a lug somehow, and also attached to a rack, or stand, would be very, very easy to accomplish. I googled it somewhat, and couldn't find anything out there. A figure 8, if you will, could be attached to one of the tension rods, and the cable to the other loop of the figure 8. The other end of the cable could be the locking mechanism, and attached to something large that would be a deterrent for someone looking to make a grab.

Obviously, in a recording situation, there would be the possibility of some rattling or whatever, but at a gig at some dive bar where half the people are looking to steal anything not bolted down, this would be a little piece of mind.........

"Drum Lock" or "DrumLok". I like the sound of that! In the interim it would be easy enough to fabricate a piece of 1/16" vinyl covered wire rope with a Nicropress tool into what you are talking about. This would, of course, just be something that keeps an honest man honest. Anyone with a drum key or an attitude could remove it.

As to the Black Beauty, I just looked around until I found one used. I believe I paid $325 for a 6.5" deep with Imperial lugs. Monroe badge. Sounds great. I will eventually pick up a few more the same way.
