I have several snares and I have found lately I prefer the die cast rims on my snare. I have a Pearl Masters with a die cast, and a Ludwig BB with 2.3 rims on it, The Pearl seems to hold its tuning better than the BB. The BB lugs have come loose at time, requiring tuning between sets. My Pearl never does that. Is this because of the die cast rims, or is this another issue? If I get die cast rims for my BB, will any brand of die cast rims work that are 14" 10 hole rims? Also, can I use just a die cast on the top and not the resonant side of the BB?

Sounds like head stretch or oiled threads.
Die cast hoops sound way better for rim shots. Only my ferro hoops sound as good as cast hoops.
