Black Friday "gig" Last viewed: 30 minutes ago

From Richie

He loves them, and apparently takes a lot of guff from other guitar players who don't quite agree.

My first amp was a Peavey, as a guitarist, I can say that you are completely right. People give them a hard time constantly. Good quality etc. They just came along late to the game relative to Fender and Marshall, so people look down on them. Tell you what, they have a LOT more USA made products than Fender does these days...

@Purdie Shuffle (John): I honestly think that there was only one person in the entire place who had any clue as to the age and appreciation of the kit and that guy was the one playing it (lol)! As far as the "mob joints" in NYC go, I'll definitely keep that in mind should I venture out that way in the near future. I actually go for the shirts with the wide stripes and white collars and cuffs. I always wear a tie whenever I play and you can imagine the nonsense I take from the others in the band. That's fine with me though. It's actually "who I am". I feel a little naked without one. It probably has something to do with the fact that I attended private schools through grade school and high school where we wore a tie on a daily basis. Although it wasn't part of my attire during my college years, the tie returned through my 30 year-career in Purchasing. Now that I'm retired I honestly don't get the chance to wear one very often. However, I take advantage of every opportunity that I get.

@Richie: That Peavey amp belongs to our rhythm guitarist. The rest of the guys use either Marshall or Fender equipment.

@hack4: Appreciate the kind words!

I love it!Excited Unfortunately, I'd probably be the only one in the building to get the connection. Our original lead guitarist who passed away last February from lung cancer left me a great Detroit Tigers' tie, which would also be appropriate.

And...........speaking of the Red Tiger kit, you must have been reading my mind or what little is left of it.

I'll be playing back at the same restaurant on the 14th of December. Since the holiday season has now "officially" begun we'll be adding a few Christmas numbers to our sets and doing a little Christmas trivia between songs. I've narrowed my kit choices to two that I think would be good fits for a Christmas-themed show -- my Slingy Red Tiger and my Slingy Green Glass Glitter. Which kit I use might depend on which elves' hats the group decides to sport for the evening -- the green ones or the red (lol)! Excited

Thanks for the positive feedback. Life is short. I believe that we've got to have "a little fun" along the way!
