Can we get an update on this? Did you decide to leave it grimy or restore it? Did you find a B stamp anywhere?

Inquiring minds want to know!

nice score if it is a bb. but it strikes me weird that g.c. would sell a 70's bb for only $80.

we all know that g.c. isn't the sharpest tool in the box, but they also sell alot of vintage drums (the hollywood store alone has tons of vintage snares - all marked way up) and they would have marked it way up as well.

this also means that they had to buy the snare at atleast half of what they sold it for.

talk about "right place, right time". the price could of also been a typo. i bet someone's getting fired over this.

Go back and read the whole thread! We went through all the same thoughts you just did. From what the buyer said, the original owner sold it to GC not knowing what it was. The GC employee was also fairly clueless, as he put it up on the web as a black supra, possibly thinking that black beautys only existed in the 20's and 30's or something. The buyer saw the ad online (which didn't have a pic yet) and called the store, asked for a picture, and the GC guy told him it's "definitely not a black beauty". The buyer got the pic and couldn't buy it fast enough.

When it arrived and he posted pics, we all sat back and stewed in jealous awe. An amazing find.
