Blaemire Fun Again Last viewed: 18 minutes ago

Loading...

Been a while since I tackled a Legacy Blaemire restoration.

I really miss it.

All those wonderful chemical smells and itching.

I really love it.

I had one more shell I got from Jerry.

Now it is done.

I really could use another FG Legacy shell.

It's painful,..............but so enjoyable.

BTW I reduced the size of my photos by emailing them to myself from my phone at the 37kb rez. Sorry they are so small.

Happy Fathers Day

Beautiful work... again! Was that one already drilled for Rogers lugs? They look great on the shell.

One day....

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Not pre-drilled for Rogers lugs.

Close but not right.

Also whoever originally layed out the hole pattern (original owner, Not Jerry)

was still learning the craft.

A lot of guys bought these raw shells and became instant "drum builders".

The holes are often not in a line and all over the place as far as spacing.

I like the top and bottom lugs to be precisely aligned and evenly spaced from bearing edge.

Usually I have to place both heads and rims on drum

and figure out "the best" top and bottom lug line to use as a starting point that will get me around the shell with minimum enlarging of holes.

Marking with a small framing square from my flat stone top.

This one was like that.

I guess I just really enjoy restoring these shells.

As far as Rogers Lugs looking good.

Pretty much all of my Blaemires have Rogers Beavertails.

So I was just keeping with the program.

Remember, Mr. Shuffle, you were nice enough to supply me with some Rogers Bass Drum Beavertails for my Blaemire 22.

Thanks Fellas SA

Oh..I forgot to mention,

This was the easiest shell I have ever done as it was already stripped of wrap, trued and pre-sanded when I bought it. Already naked.
