Blue Eddie Ryan Drum Kit Value? Last viewed: 10 minutes ago

Loading...

I have a Blue Eddie Ryan Drum Kit and i\'m trying to sell it. It is hand made, has original badges and stickers, comes with premier trilock hardware all in good condition. The lugs are square on the toms and bass drum - sizes 13, 14 16 and 22.

Could you please advise a good guide price and e-mail me if you need anymore information.

The first thing to check (if you don't know), is; did it belong to a name drummer?

The reason I mention this is Eddie made drums ONLY to order, there were no brochures or off the shelf kits and during his heyday they were largely the preserve of the rich and/or famous. If you don't know, let me know and I can check with Eddie, he has an extremely good memory about nearly all the kits he made!

I picked up my black white kit thinking/hoping it once belonged to Martin Chambers of The Pretenders, but when I contacted Eddie, it turned out it was made for Paul McCartney! A second pink acrylic I got earlier this year turned out to have been made for Paul Cook of The Sex Pistols back in the day!

If you could send me some pictures to [email protected] , I can take a look and have a word with Eddie and see what light he can shed on your kit.

Values for ER kits is not particularly astonishing, but the ownership of a name player might help, as it might with any kit. I think the low values are partly because very few drummers actually know of him and his kits but the list of famous drummers who used his drums, especially in the 70's was very impressive! At the time and since, there have been frequent anecdotes of 'other brand' endorsed players taking their new kits to Eddie and having him make a 'look-a-like' from his shells using the hardware from the 'freebie' kit.

I was chatting with Eddie on Monday about starting an Eddie Ryan Drums Appreciation Society, he seemed quite open to the idea and I have had some positive feedback and encouragement from other drummers (some none ER owners as well!) on this side of the pond. If there's any other owners/appreciators out there who'd like to comment - please let me know!
