Tommy yes thanks!!! That's the one.

Bun, wow very cool story!! Bobby has always been one of my druming idols. He and Danny Seraphine were a heavy influence with me. Just love hearing these guys play. Did he still have the white marine pearl Premier kit? Always wanted one just like it Swivo mounts and all.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Dunno if it's the same kit, but Steve Maxwell either has or had the Rogers kit that Bobby C. used at Woodstock.

It's funny - when I hear Bobby, I hear Buddy. Period. Now, that's not saying that Bobby was a Buddy clone, just that Bobby had an eerie way of phrasing that sounded like Buddy, and his kit sounded similar (and to get that sound, that tone, requires careful tuning!). I'm not talking about soloing either, just playing time and filling behind the band. An impeccable, elegant player, to my ear. One that almost certainly was influenced by BR, just not in quite the same way others were, perhaps. I once made the comment that Bobby "invented" fusion to an instructor friend of mine and was challenged about the comment; glad to see someone else support that viewpoint.

Buddy commented that he liked Bobby's playing before.....

..probably cause it sounds a bit like himself!

If I recall correctly, Buddy once stated that Bobby's little drum break in Spinning Wheel was one of his favorite drum breaks ever.

Very cool thread. I always thought if Bobby playing the Premier kit with Swivo hardware and the well worn reso heads.

By the way, the two microphone concept was a way to combat feedback when speakers had little pattern control and consoles and outboard gear were pretty rudimentary. Wire the mics out of phase with each other and the signals picked up by both will cancel each other. The singer then sings into only one mic.

Very interesting on the mic's. I have to wonder why we don't see that in other video of that time period.

Thanks for the explanation on that.

From Tommyp

Glenn!You mean this one? ENJOY!!!Tommyp

That's the one I was thinking of Tommy.I remember seeing that in a Fibes catalog in High school, and then seeing BS+T at a show at Carnage Hall, with Bobby playing that kit.

Great Drummer.Great dynamics and his drum parts were just textbook.
