Break out the Amber Vistas...Zildjian's Amber set Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hello , happened to be sitting here staring at my mother in laws water cup and made me want to break out the Amber Vistas for some reason.

This set gives me the goose bumps as soon as I break them out. I purchased them from the Zildjian family several years ago. They were owned by Armand and used at Zildjian factory for many years when he was alive. Craigie (who is a sweetheart) met with me when I was taking a tour and she supplied me with a certificate explaining that they were her fathers and many friends of his would come and play on the sets that were set up including these and jam while trying out cymbals. Although she couldn't recall or say exactly who but some names that I can imagine would be Papa Jo Jones, Louis Bellson, Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones,Tony Williams and Ringo. I wish this set could talk. Maybe even Bun E. might remember these if he visited the Zildjian factory. Hopefully he will chime in, would love to know. Anyway that is the story of the day. Oh, one side note guessing 1974 ish , 13/14/16/18/24/14sn/throne. Also note the Gold Silk inlay which I thing was used earlier before the gold sparkle. Feal free to break out your Ambers and share pics. Thanks for listening , carry on.

The only time I visited the factory was after Armand had passed on. The set at that time, the early 2000's, was a Slingerland set of Buddy Rich's.

Wow.. That's not just a vintage Ludwig "drum kit", that's a historic drum kit that i'm sure would easily fit as a museum piece for Ludwig, and for Zildjian.. Incredible.. Drums that were once owned by the owner of the most famous cymbal company in history. What a connection that is.. Wish i had that type of privilege ;)

Wow, that's gorgeous! Is that a 18" or 20" FT? Amazing to have the matching canister throne too. I cringe at the thought of someone throwing hardware into a Vistalite throne, but it looks like no one ever did it with that one.

So, are you going to convert the amber water glass into a matching 4" tom? ;)
