I'm trying to obtain as much information as possible regarding the vintage Buck Rogers snare stand.
The more I've researched this particular item, the less I seem to know about it. My understanding is that it was originally manufactured in the early 60s by Walberg & Auge and was supplied to most of the major U.S. drum manufacturers of the time -- Ludwig, Slingerland, Rogers, Gretsch, etc.
Yet, when I see the stand being offered for sale I see countless descriptions and configurations that makes the "so-called" original extremely hard to identify. To make matters even worse (at least for me) is that fact that most of the U.S. drum manufacturers seem to have had some "almost identical" looking stands being manufactured during the same time period with their own unique names added to them. I've seen flat-based stands as well as arched stands and also so-called "Jr." stands. I've seen stands that I was sure were Buck Rogers only to find out that they were "Super Grips", "Giants", "Supremes" "Sta-Tites" or "Clippers."
Here's the question: Is there at least ONE sure way of identifying a "true" (whatever that might mean) Buck Rogers snare stand?
The price ranges that I've seen these being sold for is almost endless. Is there one Buck Rogers Stand that is more valuable than another? If so, which one would it be and why? I've given up trying to figure this one out.
I apologize for the wordiness of this particular post but if I do decide to invest in this particular stand I at least want to make sure that I'm getting a "true" Buck Rogers.
As usual, thanks in advance for your time and input!Help2
