Buying a Ludwig Downbeat BDP - Fair price? Last viewed: 18 minutes ago

Loading...

Looking at a mid-60's KB downbeat shell pack in BDP... just the 3 shells, no snare. What would be a fair price to pay? I'd say condition is about 7.5/10. No extra holes, and everything's there. I have my ideas on price, but I'd like to get some validation from my fellow forumites before I pull the trigger.

Probably around $750-900.

+1 - Caddy's numbers are right in the old wheelhouse.

Too many great drums to list here!

Just an observation - I seem to notice far less down beats available on ebay and other sources than, say, club dates. Because Ludwig sold less? Or they're more coveted to collectors? Anyway, I'd assume then that they'd go for a few hundred dollars more than club dates.

db'S DO HAVE MORE VALUE THAN CD'S. EXCEPT, HERE THE CONDITION IS A SUBJECTIVE 7.5/10 SO THAT HAS TO SORT OF BE AN AVERAGE FOR THE ERA. THE THING W/ A CD bdp KIT, OR ONE WITH ANY OTHER FANCY WRAP, IS THAT THIS IS A RARE OCCURANCE unlike A DB KIT WHERE THEY'RE MORE COMMON.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Hey Jag -

I beg to differ, respectfully, of course, on the Club Dates. If you have a very nice 3-piece w/out the snare in BDP, SKP, BOP, etc they can hit the 1500 mark without breaking a sweat. I've seen it on the dreaded ebay more than once in recent memory.
