Been playing Ludwigs since my first set in 1967...but never professionally, I play for fun. My name is Jim and I'm a professional photographer that works with most of the famous entertainers in Branson, MO. I was Andy William's photographer for just short of 20 years until his passing recently.
Originally from Chicago, I've always followed the history of Ludwig. Actually met WLF II when I was picking up a set at the factory in 1983.
I decided a few months ago that I would purchase only 1984 Ludwigs (with the big Monroe-style badges but that say Chicago) as it was the last year they were made on Damen Avenue. Over the last 8 weeks, I have purchased this massive 6-ply maple/mahogany kit plus a matching 1984 matching logo Supraphonic, also still have my Supraphonic from 1968.

All stands are Hercules vintage, still waiting for a few odd small parts but it's all been stripped down to the shells, wood hand buffed and 36 hours of chrome polishing. They'll never leave the house but wanted to share.
PLEASE NOTE: if anyone has a 6-1/2x14 Supra with the large Chicago badge or a SS or hammered bronze, I'd LOVE to talk to you about adding them to this new collection of 1984 drums. A 75th anniversary would also be welcome. If you sell me one of these, you'll have rights to come play this kit when in the area!
P.S. The overhead image is comprised of 8 separate photos to get the "cockpit" view from the throne. The Yamaha Maple Custom kit is the last one that I owned (bought 'em from Jay Osmond). They were sweet but nothing like these Ludwigs. Thanks for making me feel welcome.
