Try Rebeats for heads. They have a few options and the prices are reasonable.

Hmmm.....I think I covered this already......Yes SirDOH

Hi!

Hey, it just says "skin" heads on their website. Do you have anything in writing that says they are using calfskin now? That would be great!

From being a fan of the man for over 30 years now,I'm pretty proud of this,so I will say it on here.

A few months ago,Neil Finn, from Crowded House fame, bought a 1948 BDP Radio King set from me for his recording studios (Roundheadstudios.com) in Auckland,New Zealand.

Sizes:

26,13,16 and matching solid maple,5-1/2 by 14,3 point strainer,Gene Krupa snare.

I hand polished just about every single metal part by hand with Blue Magic metal polish. Turned out beautiful!

Before I shipped them,I told Neil I have heard many times that these drums sound best with calf, and that Rob Cook lives pretty close to me,and that I could get the heads from Rob,and just add them to the boxes.

I also said I had heard that you can use calf on top/plastic on the bottom,so not have to deal with temperature changes so much,so he went with that option.

He paid for them,Rob shipped to me.

I got a email the other week from Neil saying they have the drums tuned up very well, and that they sound wonderful. He even went on to say he has been playing them himself for the last few days!

Pretty cool in my book.

Loved Split Enz. Had the live video for years. Great video capturing a moment in time of a really cool band.

The Enz live in Hamilton,Ontario vid? I have that too somewhere............

The song "I Got You" by them in 1980 is what got me turned onto them.

I about flipped when Neil called me from Boulder,Co in Sept.

Have seen CH in London,Detroit,Chicago >(twice) ,Grand Rapids.

Anyway,back to calf heads!

We in Auckland thank you for your contribution to fine vintage kits in our city. Cool1

Unfortunately the weather here has my mixed grill (Earthtone, Antelope, Goat, and Calf) really going up and down at the moment. Nothing like Christchurch is going up and down, which is foremost in our minds at the moment. :(

Anybody know any more about the rumor that Earthtone have changed species from Goat to Cow? I say rumor because I've heard it in a few places but not yet seen anything in writing on their web site. Must go and look again. Maybe I missed it.
