Calling all Gretsch Guys Last viewed: 12 hours ago

I have a friend who has a vintage Gretsch Kit. Sizes are 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20 X 16 Bass Drum in I think it's called NITRO Yellow. I took some pics of the Badge on the Bass drum and the sticker inside. Can you give me an idea what year this is. There's a serial # and a model # on the sticker. He's looking to sell it but first he has to re-wrap the bass drum, of course in the same wrap cuase the original wrap is wrecked. I'm a LUDWIG guy and don't know alot about Gretsch. I'm thinking it's early 80's but I'm probably wrong. Check it out.

Model # M4249

Serial # 21121

Don't know the answer but I would keep the bass drum as is and let the buyer do any rehab, if desired... love the color though :)

It is an 80's kit. it is 1981 or a little later, this badge ran until 2001 but not the paper tag you've shown. It is an 80's paper tag.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

It's a Tony Williams kit and those kits were made from the early 70's to about the mid 80's so the kit can be from anywhere in that time period. I'm not a Gretsch expert so I can't speak to the serial numbers, but it's Tony Williams kit alright. Nitron Yellow was Tony's color.

Too many great drums to list here!

Nitron Yellow that's what It's called. I new I screw that up.

The kit is in really good shape. The wrap seems have lifted on the toms but my buddy is a custom drum builder and restorer he will glue them back down. The bass drum wrap is a right off. He will re-wrap it. I forgot to mention it's a virgin bass drum. No mounts drilled in the top.
