Had a chance to pull a head off of these drums last night, and snapped a few pictures of the interiors. Interested in knowing what year these are...hoping '65! Thanks!

No Dayton tags in 65.

Amazing condition inside and out...this person took excellent care of this kit, or never learned to play it, and put it up until now.
Thanks everyone for their input!
I agree those interiors look factory fresh. Tags look brand new....amazing find~! :)
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Those are beautiful. That 'typed in' tag is a common thing to see, just like a crossed-out tag. At the time the drum went together the assembler used it instead of a pre-printed tag, possibly because he didn't have any others on the bench at that moment. Since the box of blank tags came from the printer with their own serial numbers on them, that's why the number is so different.
Those were built mid-late 1966, after the CBS deal was done. I have some flat grey Daytons with numbers in the 81xxx range, from early 1967. They were building a lot of drums in those days, and the numbers went up fairly quickly. The flat grey paint was in use probably until mid-67, and then the speckled paint came in. Flat grey Dayton drums are virtually identical to the flat grey Clevelands that came before.
Would like to thank everyone for their knowledge and wisdom, as well as willingness to share on this kit! Will be posting pictures in the near future for those interested. Thanks again, and Happy "Holidays", no pun intended :)
I wish I had that set now..... and those Vox super Beatles
