I saw this camco drum key go for $264.99 on Ebay today.. >>>

I got one at a pawn shop attached to a roundbadge Gretsch Field Snare,It had a camco drum key attached to it on a bracket. I named her Frau Blücher. Frau Blücher 1st appeared for $199.00. I tried to bargain with the manager, but to no avail! One day, As I was holding Frau Blücher up and looking at her, the camco fell into my shirt pocket. I didnt notice it till I got home than day. A few days later I took the Camco Drum Key up there to turn it in when I noticed that my beloved Frau Blücherwas on sale for $99. I hurried as fast as I could and bought Frau Blücher. The Camco and Frau Blücher are now reunited .....or is it reunited for now?

The Camco emblem has been struck upside down on the handle of the key in the auction...That's what makes this key a little different then the rest...

Cheers

Poppy that's a beautiful snare! Nice score on it as well. Interesting info on the Camco drums keys too. Factory bloopers seem to bring the money sometimes.

Enjoy!

Glenn.

Not quite. If you notice. In the pic, there is a groove around the circumference near the end. This groove helps hold that key into the Camco key holder, which has a spring pushing a ball bearing partway into the hole. Like a socket being held onto a socket wrench. That groove makes it worth $264.

No, I was referring to the CAMCO logo that is stamped on the left ear of the handle (ebay auction link)...Normally, the logo is upright, (facing the adjustment end) not upside down...I'm not saying that this key is worth that kind of money, but, it is definitely worth something...You don't find these errors everyday...

I have on George Way key that cost me $100 on EBay. I also have two Camco keys that I've purchased locally for $20 each. One of those is stamped upside down like the one in the auction. All it takes is for two bidders to put in stupid prices for a sniped bid to have an auction go that high.

I once did a snipe bid for a 1959 George Way 22/12/16 w/ 5.5x14 in green sparkle. The price was at $3000 but my snipe bid was for $5500. Luckily I got the kit for $3500 but it could have hit much higher! And yes the kit is still in my collection!
