It might also be worth directing the insurance company to a Curotto or Cangany or other published expert to support your contention on price - I'm sure they'd be singing the same song more or less.

Steve Maxwell could probably be of some help here in recouping your loss. Sadly, nothing will replace the sentimental value. As mentioned above, citing DWs as a modern equivalent is a good idea.
