Hi Steve,
Are you talking about the raised rims on the snare gates? Lay that snare drum on a table and it will rock!
Joe
No Joe, I was referring to the 14" 6 hole hoops. Camco didn't make one but George Way sure did! Also those raised snare gates are a dead giveaWAY for George Way hoops!

Yeah, the raised snare hole gates did go into the early Camco era. I wonder why there are so many 6 lug Way snares when the 8 lug snares were so dominant in their catalogs, on sets and individually. The '57 Way catalog didn't even have a 6 lugger listed.
I bet Camco canned the 6 luggers for efficiency reasons. Since they were a machining company, they could cheaply manufacture the extra lugs and rods and eliminate the 6 hole hoop production.
And where are all the Geo Way 14x14's?
Wow, I'm starting to sound like Andy Rooney.
Well I know where one GW 14x14 floor tom is :D
I'm betting you're right in that John Rochon figured it was cheaper to add two more lugs than to manufacture all those extra 14" 6 hole hoops.
