Camco tuxedo snare prices Last viewed: 8 hours ago

What would be a fair price for an Oaklawn Camco Tuxedo 5x14 snare in good original condition?

I passed on one awhile back, because I thought the asking price of $500 was too high, due to it's condition.

There is one on the bay right now, that is near me, and one listing that recently ended. Both look to be in really good shape.

The one near me is $475, the other was $450. Seems to be the going price range, but before I spend any money I knew I should get some opinions.

ebay item # 201292023209.

Are the hoops on this one correct? They don't look right to me. They look like Rogers hoops.

Is there supposed to be a spring on the strainer?

Matt,

I'm not a Camco expert but I've been learning a few things here and there. Assuming that is the original badge for the drum I would think those hoops are not correct. The "Oaklawn, Illinois" badge (without the U.S.A.) is the first Camco badge after Geo. Way. I believe that drum should have the rolled COB hoops. I can't answer your question about the strainer.

I've been trying to find the thread...I think it was here on VDF...where someone posted a "heads up" or "warning" about a Camco snare drum on eBay. I don't want to cause alarm or malign that seller if it's not the same drum, but I thought it was that one. I'm going to dig for the thread a little bit more. Hopefully the member that posted it will see this thread. Again, I don't know for sure that was the drum.

Dan,

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I am just looking for some opinions like yours to verify what I already suspect. Those hoops are wrong.

The BDP snare auction that ended yesterday looks like a correct drum.

Okay...I found the "Buyer Beware" thread. However, a link or photo of the drum is now missing from the thread. If you're serious about that snare drum, I'd reach out to Manny (airborneSFC) and ask him if that is the drum. Better to be safe than sorry.
