Camco - what might this be worth? Last viewed: 9 minutes ago

Yes, kits were originally sold back in the day without FT's but honestly who today in 2017 would actually buy a high dollar vintage Camco kit without a FT? Only a very small group would buy a three pc kit because more then likely they (like me) see this kit not being complete... missing a drum...

You mean ,... Who today would buy a survivor LA Camco Jazz shell pack ? You`re right, a small group. That BD is too small to be accented with a floor tom.

Who today would try and add a 14" FT to make a kit and sell it for 5 grand even if you`ll never see another, (because you wont) ?? Choose your metaphor.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Oddball, you are really odd for sure... what in the h€ll are you talking about??? You always seem to attack me whatever I say here on this forum no matter what I say.

This behavior of yours probably started back a few years when I said (which still holds true) that Gretsch RB never offered any factory documented natural maple finish drum sets between 1960 to 1969 and if I remember correctly you had a huge problem with that. Well have you seen any yet?

So my friend if you are talking about me directly, I rarely ever sell any of my drum kits and I do mean RARELY.

I have MANY fine 100% original vintage bop kits in my collection (to include Oaklawn Camco bop kit, Gretsch RB bop kit, Rosewood Teardrop Sonor bop kit and 4 L.A. bop kits just to name a few) so, I'm definitely not the guy who "flips" or "stripes" kits for cash... so, I take offense to your comment.

What, I'm saying is, I typically don't buy any vintage kits without a FT because that alone adds to my stress of me trying to locate a needle in the haystack matching 14x14 FT drum... I have enough headaches.

And if that CL seller thinks thinks for one minute that his incomplete kit is worth more then my $3k offer for them then more power to him and I hope he gets it.

You have the wrong OddBall,...I could give two sh*ts about a Maple roundbadge. But do remember that thread. I was not your advocate but I think we disagreed that if they made maple BD hoops, it was/is possible that a maple drum could emerge.

Not looking for one but should I see one, You`ll be the first to know.

You offered 3K ?? Your cooler than I thought! Knowing what it`s potential value is, I still wouldn`t offer a dime over 500 for it.

So we`re clear, I don`t do torpedo`s or mine fields, I attack and they know it`s me.

Anyhow, no, My implication was not that you were the one to flip it, but that you`re wrong claiming incomplete without a FT. Camco offered that configuration.

Sorry if you took a fence to my post. I feel corralled.

Without that configuration, we wouldn`t have music in elevators or on hold with the RMV.

No problem, I'm good...

At the end of the day... it's just a old drum... that, I no longer have any interest in.

As stated on the other forum, I am curious for what it will sell. Its still there. I do hope it pops up on eBay so we can value the worth also in later periods (as an archive or such)

I agree with all of you. $3000 for that kit was a great cool offer, the owner is silly not to accept that offer when in the early stage thought it was a beginners kit for next to nowt. As for kits with/without FT. I buy a lot of premiers and they sold a kit specifically without FT and collectors/buyers love them in their collections. That camco which i know nowt about looked great i wouldnt pay big money but you offered great money and its the owners loss. As you said move on but try and get that kit off him. You as a collector should be able to get some deal with him. Call to address with cash and chat and flash the cash he might even turn for less. Thats one of my tricks and it works. Im not a collector im the guy that makes the kits look class then a collector buys from me a kit to slot into a collection with all parts original and top spec.

No thanks, I no longer have any interest in that kit.

I just located a orphan Oaklawn bass drum in 3D wrap that is a very close match to my orphan 12x8 & 14x14 toms... so in this case IMO you shoot for the rarest which the 3D wrap wins.

Good move, Oaklawn sounds so much better IMO. flower
