Because you don't have a rubber band going to the t-rod to hold it in place! LOL. Some of my older Ludwigs have the same problem. Rubber bands work. Maybe not too elegant. That is a nice snare. Had that same finish on my first Camco's that I bought new around "65.

Aw yes, the dreaded throw that pops off!!! I think this is the main reason most Camco strainers were tossed out and a Ludwig was usually put there in it's place ...... complete with extra holes!

But I do know how to fix the problem, just PM me and I will give you the info on how to do this quick fix to get that strainer working like it should!

You don't mind getting a Camco COB Tuxedo back in it's place do you?

If you take a fine rat's tail file to each end of the channel the throw travels through and make it just a little longer, you'll find the problem disappears....equally a rubber band.

Another one is to just replace with a Rogers throw which has the same hole size - I've got a couple of snares like this.

I'm looking for a 3d moire to match the rest of my 3d moire Camcos - I've got some other interesting stuff I'm about to sell which might fit well as swap fodder. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Unusual seeing a chrome hole vent with an oval badge - they're usually brass. Got more drums that go with that snare?
