A couple of months ago I mentioned a Road Trip through USA that My son & I are making this June. At the time I did not get a great response, however our route has now been revised.. so here's hoping.....

We are now spending 4 nights in LA, then 3 nights in Las Vegas before heading to Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, 4 day Bluegrass Festival at Telluride Colorado.. Then we head back to LA for a couple more nights Via.. Santa Fe, Alberque..and Flagstaff.

(Just after some local Knowledge).. Good Music/Drum shops.. Music Museums..good live music venues.. or anything that would interest a Vintage Rock drummer & his Flatpick Guitarist son..

any input would be really appreciated..

Cheers

John

Sounds like fun! When your in LA Catalinas bar and grill is a great jazz spot, Malibu is beautiful so any beach action is always great. As for some culture there's The Getty and a great Arts District downtown, MOCA, LACMA, ect. Oh yeah and you can't miss Roscoes's Chicken & Waffles! When are you going to be in LA specifically?

Hi,

If you are in Los Angeles and you are into bluegrass...McCabes in Santa Monica is a place you want to hit. http://www.mccabes.com/condata.html

In Universal City/ Studio City area... The Baked Potato http://www.thebakedpotato.com has jazz/Fusion/Rock. That is right by universal studio next to Hollywood. Some of the best players in the world perform there every week in a club no bigger than some bathrooms. tremendous place to see a show. Up close and personal. I hope that helps...

Wow, that's amazing...back in the mid-70s we used to go to McCabes frequently. Country Gazette, The Dillards...that's where I learned to love bluegrass. Hadn't thought about it in years. Glad to hear they're still doing it!

+1 on Pro Drum, also should check out GC in Hollywood and Sam Ash while you're there.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

When you go to the Grand Canyon, bring lots of extra film,or memory cards. It truly is one of the things in life that doesn't dissapoint, and really is that beautiful.Get there by mid morning the latest.During the late afternoon, about an hour before sundown, heavy smog starts to roll in,and it obscures the canyon.

On the road leaving the canyon at night, the sunset in the desert and stars at night are spectacular.

If you like rafting, you might want to consider a rafting trip, down the Colorado river which flows through the base of the Grand Canyon. It should be class 2-3 rapids that time of year I think.Check it out and have a great time...cheers mate.Cool Dude
