Can you help me identify a Ludwig (1929?) Snare? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hello!

I was recently lucky enough to obtain this old Ludwig snare and I'm not 100% sure of what I have here. Hours of Googling and forum-lurking has lead me to think this is from 1929-1937 (based on the snare throw-off) and could be a nickel-on-brass standard (of some sort) - Or maybe I am just getting my hopes up.

..So I am asking for the internet's expert help identifying this beauty!

There's no badge, but the shell is stamped Ludwig. It's 4x14, with tubular lugs. The rims sort of "clamp on". More pictures can be posted if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Which side, left or right of the throw off is the engraving ? Is it 8 lugs ? The brass is usually the first coat before chrome with Ludwig.

Can we see more, some a little distant too ?

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Thanks!

The stamp/engraving is to the left of the throw, and it is a 10-lug.

Here's a shot of the bottom and one of the side from further back.

Sweet!

It seems like these are pretty rare, eh?

I suppose any near-100-year-old drum would be!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

You got the big as bed with the engraving to the left, it`s probably a 27/28 shell, and the earlier of the standard all metals.

The 4x14 models are a little rarer than the 5x14's. It's a great drum! Enjoy it!
