sorry i just dont get it . why are they jerks . i'm not defending anybody
I object to the unnecessary parting out of a perfectly good complete vintage bass drum. It's just greedy.
Do this with an incomplete, broken or frankensteined drum.

In some cases i would agree with you . it's not greedy it's a legit form a bussines and hobby . most of us are glad when we finaly get that missing part on that long over due project and we never ask were they came from . and i dont think any body going to hell for buying or parting out vintage parts . well maybe if you did that to a top hat and cane you might burn a little .
