I have really grown to dig nickel hardware, although I have not had much luck with Cape Cod cloths

The original nickel may very well polish up nice, as FFR428 pics show. I'd try and save it. Side note, parts going into the nickel plating vat stand a far better chance of not getting "lost" as opposed to parts into the chrome tank.
