I just purchased a mid-late 50's Krupa super snare drum. It's overall very nice but, as is probably typical, not strictly original. The hardware is nickel, which I prefer, but the butt side clamshell is actually a throw-off side in chrome. It works fine (or at least as well as these things can work) but I would prefer to have the correct butt side in nickel.
In my spares I have a nickel butt side, but it is the 40-41 version with the slotted snare attachment. What I need is the 56-62 version with the screw type swivel nut.
I was thinking of converting the slotted version to to a swivel nut version, (I'm pretty good with that type of thing), but thought that might be something of a travesty for many reasons.
I would prefer to either trade for what I need or sell the slotted version, but the latter would leave me looking for what I need, and these things are somewhat like hen's teeth.
Thoughts and/or recommendations?
