I am curious as to how far you guys go with the pitting (acne).

In the pics of the brackets you can see the minor pitting. In the lugs you can see minor and major pitting. I soaked them in dawn overnight and sprayed them with WD-40 overnight with a day in between, then wiped off good, then used mothers wax on them. You guys that use buffers, do you take all the pitting out?

The better of the 2 brackets I just purchased. The chrome is really good on it. Just some swirls in the bright light.

CLR!!...Just used it to clean screws and lugs, and they look new. Tip;'..Don't let your parts stay in longer than an hour, use surgical gloves, use a soft toothbrush to gently rub the parts, rinse thoroughly and let air dry..Nothing else needed.

I buff on a wheel with compound.

Even with a buffing wheel, you cannot get all the pits/flaws out.

You buff till it gets hot and you are done.

Thats as good as it will get.

Even when re-chroming or re-nickeling, the pits still show.

There is air inside the pot metal on lugs.

A good plater does a (release the air) heat treatment bake first.

Even so,.............they do not come out perfect.

I have pics of flat Imperial lugs that have been re-nickled twice.

Still got flaws...........It's cool..........they are old.
