there were 22/13 ludwig clubdate combos in the late 50's-mid 60's. when they had a floor tom, it was a 12x15. ludwig did not catalog a clubdate 16. rumors of a few special orders float around every now and then.

there was also some marching snares, tenor toms, large bass drums that also had the center lug clubdate design.

Also, 13", 15", 20" in the late 50's. (see below, early Club Date kit) I suspect that this is the 'original' sizes intended for the line. They changed over to 12", 14", 20" as a standard in the 60's. You do see some 13", 22"'s late 50's/60's.

I see a kit in Rob Cook's, The Ludwig Book, called the Combo. Produced from 59' to '66 that was a center lug design with 9x13 mounted tom and a 14x22 bass drum and no floor tom.

It seems like the Combo became a Club Date when you added the floor tom.

From '48 to '56 they are both shown with a 24" bass drum.

Then all the way back to 1941 with a 26" bass drum... I had no idea the "Club Date" had been around for so long... and now it's back again.

Just digging around in the book looking for those center lug drums.

The Spot Light had a center lug 22" bass drum. It's listed from 59' to 66'.

Not a Guru... just interested..

This is my buddy's club date kit from the 1960's. The mounting hardware is a concert tom style mount and the original wrap finish (black diamond pearl) was removed when he was a teenager and the drums stained. The shells are still in very good condition otherwise though. he bottom rims were removed as was popular in the 1970's and he just hasn't put them back on yet. The sizes are 12x8, 13x9, 14x14, 16 floor but I think it is shallower than 16 deep, 22x14 bass drum and 5.5x14 snare drum.
