COB Slingerland Snare I Had Not Seen Before Last viewed: 13 minutes ago

SK nice SK! Cool to know about the early versions. Brass lugs are unique. Are they cast or machined? Any way to compare side by side with a later lug and possible weights? My only SK is a 70's version with pot metal lugs. It's a fire cracker though! When I need that high pop/crack it's my go to.

Thanks. My buddy is psyched about it. I may put it side by side with my own SK and see what the sonic differences are. More mass usually equals high and dry.

Thanks to Creighton's offer of the Zoomatic, I will be pulling the top head off of it once more, and I can pull a lug and weigh it.

The photos Creighton posted are accurate to the lugs on this drum, and they are cast. I can't imagine them doing machined lugs.

More as it develops....

Here is the early Krupa Sound King with the Zoomatic that Creighton so kindly supplied. Fortunately, the Zoomatic is big enough that the holes drilled for the cheapo strainer are hidden.
