Cocktails anyone ? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Well I wasn't planning on having cocktails at 9 this morning.....but I found this at a yard sale on ASU campus and just couldn't leave the old guy sitting in the sun. Got it for twenty bucks since that's all I had on me. Definitely some holes that shouldn't be there as well as a ton of other issues but I always thought restoring an old cocktail set would be cool. Wrap looks descent. Not sure what the hell the wood block thing is for......looks homemade but does contour nicely to the drum......if anyone has any info on this lounge lizard they would like to share that would be great.....as well as any ideas where I could find some of the hardware for the holes that are supposed to be there.

Cheers,

Derek

Wow! An old 50's Gretsch round badge cocktail drum! What a find for $20. I see the snares are there and one of those blocks is meant to attach a tom drum to it. The other holes will be for a tom mount, cymbal stand and accessories; reverse pedal mounts etc.. That drum is well worth restoring. Jasper shell! Great find.

John

BTW, those are rare Gladstone leg mounts on that drum. Those Gladstone mounts alone are worth ten times what you paid for the drum!

Too many great drums to list here!

What a find! Thats a killer drum. I would totally restore this. Rewrap it and fill all the extra holes after you find out all about it. There are plenty of cocktail drum websites out there and forums too. You should be able to find out alll about this drum. I have a slingerland expresso cocktail kit. Its pretty cool but not vintage.

I'm into restoring it. Should be a fun project. Still have a bunch to learn.

Any help will be appreciated. I am into hunting down the info myself. I actually really enjoy doing the research..... but if anyone has any info to help out that would be great. I just found out about the bracket for the reverse kick pedal. That might explain a few of the extra holes on the bottom. Not sure if I want to fill whatever random holes are left over after I find the missing parts and re-wrap or not. Kinda dig the original wrap and it may clean up good.

It looks like someone was thinking about lowering the lugs at one point. None of these holes actually go all the way through though. Strange.
