Good on you Kevin, love that picture. Ive been unsure whether to to talk about this, but I have had big problems in this regard - I won't say too much, but sometimes the stupid things you do when your young can affect you for a long time. I'm still 'suffering' a four pack of lager every night though!... Drumming is everything to me it always has been and I just want to keep going with it for the rest of my life.

Olddrumgeek,i too enjoy my beer and always will... Don`t worry too much about that four pack as that`s fine but just don`t let it slip into the"Quick 8" before you play or somethings going to suffer in the drum groove dept.So enjoy whatever makes you happy and do it with the love of drumming in mind and enjoy drumming til` the end.I know i`m certainly going to as i`ve got 45 yrs. of living from drumming under my belt.Just keep the booze and drumming separate or at least know where your levels of control are.

Yes. It's ok that's not going to happen if I've got a gig I can't realy drink cos I'm driving, then I just have one.

My mom used to tell me, as I'm certain yours did too:

'All things, in moderation...' :D

Gator Aid is my drink when I play, most of the time. I do like to have a few beers sometimes at practice but as Wayne points out, something will ( and does) suffer in the drum groove dept.

Thank you!

I read it can actually hinder your learning process. Thats not good. Practice all day then wipe it out on the night.DOH

Didn't know weather to say this but I actually got on the sick because of drugs AND stress related stuff , I was driving taxis at the time that was quite a few years ago, but now they are about to haul me in for a work related medical (again) and I know I will just have to go back to work. Iam finding it that realy hard to handle. I'm also - and they don't know this cos it's an address issue but I have to care for my partner who has real serious mental health problems. Well there we have it I've just been totally upfront about 'things'. Im 'basically happy though and just keep going on with drumming wherever I can - phew it's all of my chest!! Hope ya don't mind.

ODG - It's the human condition, brother. If you live and breath, you have joys and woes. I found that anticipation has always been a big killer for me. My anticipation about what may, or may not happen is usually way overblown. Things never turn out as bad as we think they will. Actually, it usually lands somewhere in the middle.

Take it one day at a time and for the love of God, please stop worrying about things that haven't happened yet. Some things may go your way, and others not. You'll have to cross those bridges when you get there, but worrying? Complete waste of time and only breeds depression and despair. Think positive, keep yer t-i-t-s up, and deal with things as they present themselves. You'll be alright. Remember always, it's never quite as bad as we tend to think it is. Hope things break your way for you and your partner. I'll keep a good thought.

Sincere best wishes,

John
