Concert tom pics wanted! Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Concert toms are the platform shoes of the drum world: fashionably dorky and nobody wants to admit that they like them. I happen to be one of those who likes them.

Never had a proper concert Tom kit. I do have a couple sets of small concert toms and a pair of Octobans. I want to build a set of concert toms. Should I go with thick or thin shells?

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

These are all I have at the moment.

1979 Tim Cantu with The Lighthouse Boys

70s Rogers blue sparkle kit with swivo-matic harware. He added some other brand vintage toms back then. He later changed it over to memri-loc hardware and got some Big R's to add to his kit. This set got ripped off from him in the mid 90s. Oh yeah 18" Floortom back there.

1980 Tim Cantu with The Lighthouse Boys

playing a Kit at the San Bernardino Fair Grounds in Victorville, CA. The Rogers drumset was owned by drummer "Terry Cross" who was with a band called "The Crownsmen" who also featured a keyboard player by the name of Tracy Heaston who has his own show at Dollywood and in Branson MO. By the way, Ronald Reagan was on stage 2 next door giving a campaign speach while Tim was in the middle of a solo.

I`d go with the thick shells, they`ll stay in round and I`ve found that hearing thin re-ring C-Toms aint pretty, and don`t get those rings around the open end, I`ve seen those thing buzz !!
