If you're interested in vintage congas, the names to look for are Valje, Gon Bops, LP (Palisades Park), Echo Tone, King. There are others, but these are the standouts. Finding them in Australia may be difficult, not sure what your market is like. You may try looking for some cuban made congas, they are the best in the world and nearly impossible to find in USA due to trade restrictions, but Australia may have different laws.

I saw the CB700 congas you are bidding on, they actually look like well built drums. They will definitely be a great beater pair, especially if you can grab them for under 100.

If You are looking for a good set of conga drums here is my recommendations

Gon bops stay away they have a tendency to crack

Valje excellent set of drums

Eco Tone forget about no longer made

Latin Percussion The era of Palisades park is over but Lp is the best drum for the money. They are like timex they take licking and keep ticking and still made.

Toca another excellent drum for the money

Pearl Drum make an excellent conga drum

Cuban drums stay away good Vintage drums need lots of work due to age and new ones are made very badly. There many other brands out there all depend on money you want to spend. Again I recommend LP they do not loose value and if you decide you no longer want they will be easy to sell.
