Look at this crazy contraption. Wasn't someone looking for one of these not that long ago? Are they really that expensive?

Man, could I use that for my 28"!!!

$300 sounds about right for a rare and specialized part like that. Too rich for my blood though.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I find it ironically hilarious that there was a rack system for drums at that time...then, sometime in the 90s, maybe 80s....someone developed a rack system for heavy hitters. Your just not metal enough unless you have a rack system these days.lol. But seriously, it's hard to invent something new these days.

Here's a roll-away rack system put to great use back in the 1930s. The great Chick Webb died in 1939.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I have one of these for a 26" BD.

After I got it, I found out my Ludwig 40's Tom Clamps do not fit over the rail.

My period clamps seem to made for a 1/8-3/16" solid bar.

(My clamps "LOOK" like the one in the picture)

The thickness of these type of rails, (not sure what brand these are)

is approx 3/8" plus a 32nd. So 13/32.

Here are pics of my tom brackets.

My brackets "will" fit on this Leedy and Ludwig short consolette bar.

The bar is 1/4" thick.

But not on my big rail.

I ground down the gripping teeth on one to fit but I did not like the results.

Metal got thinner but still worked. BUT.......

I did not want to alter the original dimensions.

I have another possible solution to widen the mouth but it involves removing/drilling out the swivel bolt and cutting the channel taller.

Then installing a new bolt with a nut.

The original is pressed like a rivet. No Nut.

Pic of my rail. I think it is identical to the one for sale.

What brand are these experts?

GGD no expert here by any means, But there may have been 2 or more style clamps? 1 for the thinner bar stock and 1 for the wider bar with the channel. Just a guess here......

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
