I have a set ( well really 2, I had a set for 30+ years and bought another 2 years ago) of early 70's 3 ply copper wrapped Slingerland drums. Does any one know what years they made the copper wrap? I got the first set used in 1975. I know the 1973 catalog has a picture of them on the front. I cant find the copper wrap listed in any of the catalogs. Also one sets has the mufflers with the little brass barrels and the other has the hooks. So the original set has lower serial #'s than the set I bought 2 years ago. If I knew when they changed the design of the muffler it would give me a middle point at least. Any help would be appreciated.

In "about 1975" they changed the muffler according to Rob Cook in his Slingerland book.

Hi,
There are some very informative discussions of these rare birds on this forum. If you search just the word copper and limit it to search only titles, you can get a whole slew of knowledge and wisdom (none mine of course.)
