correct style grommets Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Just putting it out there, I've redone some Slingerland drums and there are no correct looking or fitting grommets for reattaching the badges. I'm thinking about making a correct style aluminum grommet that would look like the factories, to make a restoration look correct. Would there be any interest in purchasing these?

No, those are like the ones at drummaker, NOT correct they're steel not quite the same look, but close, I'm talking about a factory style aluminum one.

I've used the drummaker ones and like I said they are close but the head of it that is over the badge looks to flat, the diameter that goes into the badge/drum is to small, it just looks like the badge has been replaced. I'm a machinist and would look into making an exact style that once you replace the badge, it would look as if the factory did it. I'm going to be working on a big drumset that would need badge replacement and need grommets so if there's an interest in correct ones I could make more.

I'd be interested in replica grommets. I have a bunch of 70's era Slingerlands that could use them.

Are the grommets different for 3-ply and 5-ply shells? Currently, I have (6) 5-ply drums and (5) 3-ply drums I'm interested in possibly rewrapping.

Keep us posted on what you do. I spent a lot of time last week looking online for Slingerland grommets and nothing convinced me to buy any of them. I'd buy repros in a heartbeat.

there are no replica's currently out there. I'm down to two N.O.S. grommets in my stash and I need a lot more for upcoming projects, guess I'll have to see about making a small run of them.
