The original snare gate would hang down a little and the flanges where the tension rods go through are flat and have sharp edges.

Awesome info... THANKS... I'll compare when I get home.
I don't think my shell has snare beds???? at least they weren't obvious to me like on a wood drum.
What is your serial #? I had a '66 Supra with s/n 309188 that had the slightly dropped gates but after looking at a number of '67-'69's around the web I saw the flush oval gates like on the rims you have. The rod hole flanges on your rims look correct to me. Don't assume too quickly that they are not original unless someone comes up with some definitive evidence that they are newer.
Here's a pic of my '66 and a pic of a '68 borrowed from supraphonicsnaredrum.com
Wow... clean drum! Thanks for the GREAT info. I love digging into this stuff. I'll do more research and try to get some better pics up. Point and shoot is huffed so all I got is my phone.
You do have beds, but they're not crimped like the older Ludwig Super beds - they're wide and gradual. If you remove the snare side rim and head, and set the drum down on a flat surface, you can see what the beds look like.
I think this is a case of "with Ludwig anything is possible" it looks legit to me. A lot changed for Ludwig between '63 and '65 namely Mr. Starkey.
My '64 clubdates have red felt, mahogany, and cob hoops.
My '65 clubdates have white felt, maple/poplar and cos hoops
The '64 has really fat 2" bass hoops while the '65 are thin and about 1/8" smaller, AND the keystone badges are off center!
