Thanks for posting this John!! This has always been my favourite CSN song!!
Cheers
I was listening to them all afternoon yesterday. They are monster talents, all of them. Steve Stills, to me, is one of the most underrated guitarists in the business. The man -smokes- on acoustic and electric guitar. Never gets any props for it.
Example: (Virtuoso guitar performance ahead.)

Again... CRANK the volume!

You've done it again, John! You've reminded me of how lucky I was to grow up in the day when musicians could actually play and sing! You're right about Steve Stills. He could play with the best of them! Write too! Mr. Crosby and Mr. Nash wern't too shabby either. Did you know that Steve Stills once auditioned for a part in "The Monkees"? Supposedly he was turned down because of bad teeth and a receding hairline. His buddy, Peter Tork got the role. Legend has it that Charles Manson also auditioned. What have the kids got nowadays? Justin Bieber?

People are so carried away by the powerful mix of those three voices that sometimes the music being played behind it gets a little lost. Southern Cross is a powerful piece of music. For drummers, it's a 'drummers tune' - one you can really enjoy playing. A lot of their stuff is like that. Once you start to take it apart, you realize how strong each of the components is.
Impressive. But then, they're gifted pro's.

I was a fan of the first LP but never was a hard core fan but I loved Buffalo springfield and The Byrds and the Hollies.....
