Cutting Bearing Edges Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I am going to get a Premier kit for a stoooopid price. Only one problem: it is a Concert tom set. I plan on getting rid of everything but the kick drum and the floor tom. But I am 1000% certain that it's a concert tom, as well. So, do I just find a drum repair person to cut the bearing edge? I want nothing to do with concert toms. Hate the bloody things... But LOOOOOOOOVE Premier drums (miss my set from back home).

I found a Keith Moon style Concert tom Premier set one time, only it just had one bass drum. Otherwise, it was very cool. My take on the concert toms is they are what they are. They can sound pretty good.. So I'm not for adding the other lugs and hoops.

Do you know for sure they aren't already cut? Maybe you will luck out and they will already be done. I know that ludwig concert toms were still cut for bearing edges and re rings just not drilled for lug holes.

Good luck!

I haven't seen the drums, yet. If they bearing edges were cut, this will be easy.

Yeah- I know they are what they are, and I may even use a set of Evans Hydraulics and g=just let 'er rip.

Yeah- I could almost have a Moon set- I'll have two kicks and concert toms. I just won't nail the kit to the stage, that's all...

I suppose I could do my own version of the "Pictures of Lily" kit.

Okay- it was converted to a concert tom set (and poorly, may I add). The three best drums in the kit are the kick, floor tom, and snare. The snare is missing parts. The 13 and 14" rack toms need their re-rings reglued, and the bearing edges need attention. If you want to discuss this kit, I am going to start a thread in the non-USA drum section.
