Cymbal L arm Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hi,

New member here. I'll be posting photos of my kit this week. In the mean time I have a question about the "L arm" cymbal holder which mounts to the bass drum. Mine has some movement just below where the cymbal tilting section meets the "long arm". The section is connected to the long arm by a hollow pin. Should the fit be tight with no movement or was it made to have play? I'm guessing it shouldn't. Is there any easy fix for this? Thanks, Jay.

Hello and Welcome to VDF! That should definitely be tight, but I have seen minimal "play" in cymbal arm/stand joints many times. If it bothers you, you can fix it pretty easily. The hollow pin you referred to is called a roll pin. You can get some at just about any hardware store or auto parts house pretty cheap. You can drive the one in you L arm out with a hammer and punch, or if you don't have a punch, a nail that is slightly smaller than the hole in the rod and tilter will work. Just be careful...and wear eye protection in case something flakes off back in your face. Then, just gently hammer the new one in. It's pretty easy.

I look forward to seeing pictures of your drums!
