I compared my 402 Supra and the Pearl... I like the Supra better. The Pearl had a ring to it possibly due to no muffle.

SEE! SEE! What have we said... That hussy Pearl already has a ring and not a muffle to it's name. Steer clear of those 'fast' drums, sir. All their good for a is a smile, a quick bang and then you're stuck with trying to keep 'em tuned.
Yep, only consider well made, proper drums with well done beds and the ability to work their magic while being uptight or a little loose.
