Jeez... He may be the best soloist of all time. There aren't too many guys better or even in the same conversation. Vinnie? Vinnie. Dennis Chambers? It's apples and oranges but wow. What else can you say?

Great drumming.

I was watching that last week and it's one of those solos - IMHO anyway - that is fun to watch as a drummer.....and maybe anyone for that matter. The guy is magic the way he gets around on the kit. I love watching him. The other one I like to watch every once in a while is him, Steve Gadd and Vinnie Colaiuta at the Buddy Rich Tribute....introduction by Cathy Rich = good one.

I've seen a bunch of his clips, he is very impressive...so smooth, even though what he is doing is not only complicated but done with very fast hands!Cool1

From O-Lugs

... in a word ... "METAL".

Dave is sojourning down the dark and lonely road of classic hair band metal. He's grown his hair out and poofed it up to the appropriate level. Since the DDrum endorsement fiasco ... they gave Vinnie Paul the signature drumset and turned Weckl down ... , he's decided to swap over to Tama so he can play the same drums as Lars (his secret hero). He is currently in talks with the Zildjian company to make him a Signature line called Big Black Circles. They will feature the Weckl Whax'n'Crash, Roar'n'Ride, the four cymbal ChinaChain, Hats'of'Hate, and the BloodSplash. Should be a delightful transition. Stay tuned ...

That would be really funny. You might as well go ahead and cancel all the metal drummer awards because I think he would take them all. I really wouldn't mind hearing him in that capacity. I bet he would be insane as a prog rocker.

This is such a funny coincidence. I play this very piece as a warm up, before playing. I have the exact same kit, but with a few less cymbals and drums and way less talent. Falling Do

That was killer. I, too, would love to hear anything else he'd have to play. Prog would be great. Maybe with Tony McAlpine?
