Dent in 4160 Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Hey folks

I'm considering purchasing a RB chrome 4160, but it is indented behind the microsensitive strainer. Is this typical? Is it because the mounting points on the strainer require a mounting flat surface?

Also, are there different vintages of these chrome 4160's? Are some COB and some not? If so, how would I test? (or - does it matter?)

Thanks!

If this is the one thats been on ebay forever, it is dented because it was dropped on the strainer. Even if you get it cheap anough and fix the dent, you'll end up spending more than its worth just to get the parts to put it back together......unless you already have all the parts of course......

I didn't see it on ebay - it's at a Guitar Center - but it doesn't sound like any indentation should be there (?) - as if this one also may have been dropped (?)

What parts are you having trouble finding?

microsensitive strainer for any reasonable price, same for the butt end as well as the rings....

I have been pricing them..... $100-140 for the strainer

$100-120 for the butt end

50-100 EACH for the hoops.

20-40 for the ONE dual lug thingy.

30-50 for the strainer itself

so low side 300 high side 400 ..... or I could take my chances and buy a 4160 that is listed as complete.... prolly get a strainer without a throw off lever and pay 275-525....

So yea there ya go.
