Did Ludwig offer 10" toms in the 60's?? Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Just curious as to when Ludwig first offered "modern" 10" toms. By "modern", I mean double-headed toms, not the concert toms.

I can't find my Dad's old 1962 Ludwig catalog at the moment...it's been years since I looked through it, but I don't recall seeing anything smaller than a 12" in it.

The first appearance of a 10 inch Ludwig drum head is in the 67 cat. It's listed for concert toms.

The first appearance of a 10 inch Ludwig Classic drum is in the 70's. Prior to that, there are only concert toms listed.

Unless you go WAY back ...

1937 separate tension bob cat size drums listed an 11 inch tom. The single head tension 10 inch tom was available by 1940. By 1949, they had standardized on the 12's and 13's, choosing to phase out the 10 singles and the 11 bob cats.

So, no, they did not have a Classic 10 in the 60's ... or prior to that.

Well, durn... :(

I suppose I can have a matching repro built by Precision for one of the sets I'm planning to put together.
